The modern Moorfoot Primary School, adjacent to the development, was created ten years ago by the merger of two nearby primaries, and North Middleton is in the catchment area for Newbattle High School, recognised as a digital centre of excellence. Middleton Village Hall hosts activities ranging from dance classes in a range of styles to crafts and SWRI meetings and has a bar that opens on weekend evenings. Local attractions include fine dining at Borthwick Castle, fifteen minutes walk away.
There is a part-time post office in the village, while Gorebridge, accessible via a pleasant riverside walk as well as by bus, has a wide choice of shops, with a newsagent, a large grocery and convenience store, a family butcher, a pharmacy, food takeaways and other services, including a health centre and a dental surgery.
The countryside around North Middleton provides wonderful opportunities for walking and cycling, ranging from a long-established footpath and mature woodland behind the development and routes along the nearby Gore Water to the adventure playground, golf and other activities at Vogrie Country Park.

“I’d heard horror stories about buying a new home, but my experience with Miller Homes was the opposite.”
“This is my first new build home, so I had my concerns about snagging issues and how they would be dealt with.”
Tim the Site Manager has been absolutely outstanding in helping us. Every week if he didn’t come to the door he’d phone. With any issues he’s been on the ball and that’s been very reassuring. Everyone I’ve spoken to has been really nice. If I had any queries, whether I asked Sales or the Site Manager, everyone got back to me.
“We wanted to move back out towards the Midlothian area and Moorfoot Meadow was in a nice, little, quiet village.”
The reason we went for our house was that the back garden was bigger than average, which was great for our little boy and two dogs. Our small development of only thirty houses or so is well situated for us because, being self-employed dog walkers. In five minutes we can be out walking dogs in the countryside of the Midlothian area.
I’d definitely recommend Miller Homes...
...because the land you get with the house is nice, and the way they set things out. You also have the reassurance that the aftercare team will be very accommodating on certain dates and times. If you can't do it, they'll work around you.
