Achieving Royalcore Décor at Home

Achieving Royalcore Décor at Home

This year, the Queen celebrated her Platinum Jubilee, and many people have been getting into the spirit of things with the ‘royalcore’ aesthetic, which is predicted to be one of the top home design trends of 2022! If you’re unfamiliar with the term, royalcore décor is an opulent interior style, with a particular emphasis on gold, intricate details, and pastel colours.

If you’re in doubt of the popularity of royalcore, it has been viewed on TikTok over 180 million times. We think that speaks for itself! And the popularity of shows such as Bridgerton (one of Netflix’s biggest ever shows) is no doubt going to help the trend find a wider audience.

We’ve put together a list of ways that you can incorporate some royalcore style into your own home, for that sweet, sophisticated look that’s soared in popularity. You don’t have to have a string quartet to gain a bit of glamour!

Achieving Royalcore Décor at Home

  1. Go For Gold

It goes without saying that gold is associated with royalty and makes for the perfect addition to your royalcore theme. Gold accents are so easy to implement, but go a really long way when it comes to achieving that regal look. From candle holders to ornate mirrors, photo frames, lamps and even rugs: there’s no end of ways to make everyday items around your house feel just that little bit more special!

  2. Lavish Lamps

These days, you don’t need to be Marie Antoinette to have a beautiful chandelier in your home. Light fittings and lamps available in different styles and colours will provide your home with the exact gilded aesthetic that will help achieve the royalcore look, all within a good budget too.

An additional perk to chandeliers and lamps is that, if there is a particular time period you’re interested in, there’ll be a style of light modelled on the type of chandelier used at the time! This includes beaded chandeliers, downlight chandeliers, orb chandeliers, and empire chandeliers. Let your imagination go wild!

  3. Show Your True Colours

Colour is everything when it comes to a royalcore aesthetic. You could implement a modern take with the classic red, white and blue aesthetic - particularly popular a few years ago. This included throws, rugs, and pillows (and even fridges!) that displayed the Union Jack logo, giving homes a particularly patriotic feel – the perfect look to celebrate the Platinum Jubilee!

Alternatively, soft, pastel colours that give your home the genteel feel of a stately home are guaranteed to create the aesthetic you’re looking for. Think muted pinks, mint greens and gentle greys. Even a pale yellow or lilac will make your room feel lovely and light –perfect timing as spring is just round the corner!

You may also look to experiment with jewel tones, a big trend in 2021 that we don’t expect to go anywhere. If you’re not sure where to start, read our blog on using these colours in your home.

  4. Floral Furnishings

Lastly, there’s nothing more delicate and chic than introducing florals into your décor. Whether that’s simply buying bunches of peonies and tulips and keeping them in each room, or overhauling your aesthetic to incorporate dainty patterns into your interior. Floral patterns are a timeless classic that will no doubt invoke royalty into your home.
