Home at First Sight for Lambton Park Buyers

Anne and Ed Parrott had spent more than a year searching for their new house, when they finally spotted the home that they knew immediately was for them at Miller Homes’ Lambton Park development in County Durham. 

“We started getting itchy feet around January 2019,” says Anne, who has been retired five years. “We wanted a change and to move to a new area that was a little more connected and closer to more amenities but still had the same quiet country feel to where we were living before.

“Ed is a marine supervisor and works offshore, so we needed easier access to the main roads, as well as a train station and airport.  Our son lives in London and we wanted to be somewhere a little more accessible for him when he comes to visit.

“We’d been searching for a new house for months, visiting developments all across County Durham and North Yorkshire - I think we even visited one development four times. We originally wanted to move to Richmond (North Yorkshire) but then we spotted the new Miller Homes development at Lambton Park. I mentioned to Ed that they looked like a house we used to live in, somewhere we were really fond of, and right away we knew we had to go visit.”

Anne and Ed visited Lambton Park, near Chester-Le-Street, County Durham, in February this year. The development by Miller Homes is the first phase of a new residential initiative as part of the wider redevelopment of the Lambton Estate, where 15km of new pathways and four new walks have just opened for visitors to explore.

The development, which was designed by renowned architect and interior designer Ben Pentreath, comprises of three, four and five-bedroom homes as well as one, two and three-bedroom apartments.

Anne and Ed fell in love with the Aspen five-bedroom home. “We knew it was the right fit for us after looking round for the first time. It has such a large spacious living room, large bedrooms and a lovely big kitchen and dining area. Not to mention the double garage - we could live in that alone! There’s a study too which I’ve actually turned into a nice quiet sitting room where I like to read. We love living here.”

The couple moved into their new home on June and took advantage of Miller Homes’ Part Exchange scheme* to sell their former property.

Anne said: “Moving home is really exciting but selling your old house has always been my least favourite part. It was great to be able to use Miller Homes’ Part Exchange scheme as it took the hassle out of putting it on the market. And since moving in, the team here has been fantastic. If we’ve needed any support or had any queries, they’ve sorted them out right away. They’ve been brilliant.”
