Miller Homes Set to Create New Community in Telford

Press Release Miller Homes Set To Create New Community In Telford 030915

Leading housebuilder, Miller Homes, has received a resolution to grant planning from Telford & Wrekin Council for the development of a new community at land on Castle Farm Way in Priorslee.

Subject to finalising a Section 106 agreement, planning has been granted for the creation of a new community on the eastern edge of Telford.  The development will include 1,100 new homes, a local centre featuring a primary school, sports areas and a community centre, and a retirement village with extensive areas of play space and parkland.  The existing Lakeside Garden Centre and farm shop and Quackers children’s play barn will be retained under the plans.

The development will also provide employment opportunities in the area by generating up to 170 permanent jobs and an additional 1,600 construction-related jobs during the build as well as support for youth employment training initiatives.

Julie Morgan, Strategic Planning Manager at Miller Homes, said: “We are delighted that Telford & Wrekin Council has approved our development at Priorslee.

“Our proposals have been developed in a considered and sensitive manner.   We believe the comprehensive mix of housing and community amenities and facilities we plan to build and support will create a vibrant new community whilst enhancing the benefits available to existing residents in the area as well as facilitating community integration.

'This development will also play an important part in supporting the Council's plans for delivering new housing and community facilities over the coming years.”

Miller Homes plans to build a mix of high quality homes, from one bedroom apartments to five bedroom homes and affordable properties, which will accommodate a range of households and needs.  The retirement village will cater for up to 60 residents.   Amenities planned include a community building, with a GP surgery, playing fields and a recreational lake.  A bus service will serve the development and a range of cycle routes are also planned.

The development will be built in three phases over a period of 13 years, with construction work due to begin in 2017.
