Miller Homes has teamed up with St. Mary’s and St. Paul’s primary school in Prescot to donate a number of festive kindness-themed books to support the kids’ anti-bullying efforts and events that have taken place this week.

A whole class will now enjoy a shiny new copy of ‘The Christmas Elf and the Magic of Kindness’ by Marcy Kelman and Hannah Marks to take home with them. Several issues for the library have also been donated too.

The contribution comes as the school enjoy a week-long timetable of events this week to raise awareness of anti-bullying amongst the pupils, which has included a “reach out” campaign in the playground on Thursday, and an organised affair for all of the kids today to conclude the week.

#AntiBullyingWeek was founded by the ABA (Anti Bullying Alliance) and, according to the website, aims to raise awareness of victimisation of children and young people, in schools and elsewhere, and to highlight ways of preventing and responding to it. It started in 2002 and has since grown to become a significant event in the calendar. Over 80% of schools in the UK take part each year, reaching and helping around 7.5 million children.

Rachel Ball, teacher at St. Mary’s and St. Paul’s, said: “We’re always very keen to get involved with Anti-Bullying Week as a school, so were delighted when Miller Homes reached out and asked if they can help us. We love working with this company who are so local to us too!”

Clare Noakes, Miller Homes’ Sales Director for the North West, added: “This is a week very close to many of our hearts here at Miller Homes. It was a delight to once again team up with Rachel and the school – and we look forward to working with them even more as we progress at Sonnet Gate.”

The homebuilder collaborated with the school only recently on a Shakespeare-inspired poetry competition, with the winner Gabrielle’s poem now framed in a prize place within the aptly named Sonnet Gate’s show home.

Miller Homes’ new development in the Prescot area, Sonnet Gate, includes a collection of three-to-four-bedroom homes, all of which are sustainably built and feature spaces for home working and flexible living. It was found in 2022 that new homes such as these can save up to £2k on energy bills as opposed to older builds, according to the NHBC.

The development sales centre on site is now open to visit and those interested can register their interest online. It can be found at Prescot Park Way, Prescot, L34 1AL.
