North East couple first to move into landmark development on Lambton Estate

For the first time people can buy a new home within the iconic Lambton Estate, and a North East couple are proud to become the first homeowners to move in.

Alison and Malcolm picked up the keys to their new home at Miller Homes at Lambton Park in time to celebrate Christmas and a very special anniversary marking 20 years since they met.

The couple were introduced to Lambton Estate by a member of Durham Business Group, the networking organisation Alison manages, and had an opportunity to tour the Estate. They fell in love with the area and it's history, dreaming that one day they would call it home. Believing it was meant to be, they spotted that Miller Homes was creating a new community of homes and found their perfect match.

After becoming empty nesters since Alison’s grown-up sons moved into homes of their own, the couple chose to downsize to a one-bedroom detached home called The Birch. Each house style within the development is named after a species of tree, in keeping with the Estate’s naturistic surroundings. 

Relocating 25 miles from their home in Newton Aycliffe with their kitten Doris, life at Lambton Park couldn’t be more convenient for Alison’s work in Durham and Malcolm’s work in Newcastle, with easy access to the A1 motorway and Durham Train Station.

When it comes to leisure time, they are spoilt for choice with local pubs and shopping right on the doorstep, as well as plenty of scenic walking routes. There will soon be even more choice as the Estate will be opening up public footpaths in the previously private park.

Once complete Miller Homes at Lambton Park will comprise 106 high-quality three, four and five-bedroom homes along with one, two and three-bedroom apartments, which have been sympathetically designed by renowned architect and interior designer, Ben Pentreath.

The impressive homes are entirely bespoke to be in keeping with the heritage of the Estate which stretches back to the 11^th century. Design features include red brick detailing, sash windows and decorative ridge tiles – all inspired by existing residential properties on the Estate.
