New Homes Make Finishing Touches To Family Life
A local couple have made the move from renting to owning allowing them to put the finishing touches to their family life and create the home and lifestyle they dreamed of.
Mark Ruse, 32, a customer care adviser, and Kirsty Dixon, 30, an administration executive, were renting a two bedroom home just a few hundred metres away from a new development by Miller Homes in Barnsley, They were keen to stay in the area for their work, family and where Mark had grown up, so looked into the prospect of being able to buy.
“I was familiar with the quality homes that Miller Homes build and was so pleased when I heard that they were building in the location that we already called home,” said Mark. “It was perfect – meaning we could stay near our friends and family and break the renting cycle. And, we were so excited to be able to have a new build home meaning there was little to do other than make our brand new house our home.”
The couple, who have two children, qualified for the Government Help to Buy scheme to assist with the purchase of their three bedroom ‘Hawthorne’ style of home.
The scheme offers assistance for buyers who only have a small deposit of around 5% through the provision of a 20% equity loan from the Government for those who meet the qualifying criteria. This means that Mark and Kirsty only needed to secure up to a 75% mortgage from a bank or building society.
“We moved in just a few months ago and already feel like we have been here forever enjoying the new community, warmth, comfort and efficient running costs,” said Mark. “The entire purchase process was very straightforward, Hannah (Miller Homes sales adviser) was always helpful and the staff around the site are always friendly and accommodating – it’s just made buying our first home a happy time.”
“Help to Buy can unlock the property ladder for many buyers and is a superb way of balancing finances along with the needs of family or other circumstances,” said Michael Goodwin, Sales Manager for Miller Homes Yorkshire. “Offers are subject to qualifying criteria and are plot specific so we urge anyone who is interested to call and speak with our sales adviser Hannah who will be happy to help and guide buyers through the process.”
A three bedroom Hawthorne home is currently priced from £149,995 which means a Hawthorne, with Help to Buy, could be available from as little as £119,996.
