Congleton Students Put Careers Skills To The Test With Miller Homes

Students in Congleton have received a helping hand from Miller Homes at their Careers Day. Constantly looking for ways in which they can help and support their local community, Miller Homes representatives attended Eaton Bank Academy’s Careers Day on Thursday 23^rd March. Eaton Bank Academy, one of the leading schools in Cheshire East, is located next door to Miller’s Eaton Meadow development on Eaton Bank Road.

Year 11 students used the day to practice their interview skills with industry professionals in order to put to work their recently acquired skills learnt as part of their Careers and Work Related Learning Education. Students prepared CVs to apply for a Saturday job as staff at a café or garden centre, and were interviewed for ten minutes before feedback was given.

North West Sales Manager Leanne Feeley and Contracts Manager Paul McKeever volunteered to be a part of the event, so that the pupils could benefit from the different skills and experiences from across both the sales and construction departments.

Leanne comments, “With our Eaton Meadow development only a couple of minutes away, we jumped at the chance to support our local community. It was a pleasure to help out the pupils of Eaton Bank Academy with their interview skills – I was bowled over by how professional they were at such a young age.”

“It was wonderful to see how seriously they took the exercise, these are students who are positively preparing for their future!”, adds Paul.
