Student Unveils Work At New Development In Harrogate

A student from Harrogate, who won a competition to design a room scheme in a brand new show home has seen her efforts come to fruition as the development opened its door to the public.

Sadie Mae Martin, an interior design student at Harrogate College, fought off stiff competition from her fellow students to claim the prize on offer by leading housebuilder Miller Homes to design the master bedroom suite at its Chene Hall development at Killinghall on the outskirts of Harrogate.

“Working with the Miller Homes team has been a fantastic experience and one that has really brought my studies to life,” said Sadie. “It is these types of opportunities that help students to learn more effectively and to help them decide their future career path and I thank Miller Homes and their designer, Jeanette Holmes, for such an enjoyable and worthwhile time.”

The scheme not only encompassed an opulent colour palette and stylish accessories but also a headboard and feature stool that Sadie had designed and was made by a furniture company in Doncaster, Paul Ward Upholstery. And, as the home was not constructed when the design was created, Sadie was able to appreciate how designers work to millimeter precision to create striking interiors.

“Sadie designed an interior scheme which perfectly fitted the brief she was given and has worked with us to see her design come to life,” said Jan Hanaby area sales manager Miller Homes Yorkshire. “It has been a pleasure to give practical experience to Sadie and we look forward to replicating the opportunity again in the future.”

Chene Hall comprises 78, three, four and five bedroom homes and will bring more new homes to the area in addition to the 120 properties that the housebuilder has already constructed in the district. The construction of the development will be managed by the Yorkshire area’s longest serving site manager, Simon Ryan, and customers will be guided through the viewing, reservation and sales process by Steve Foulis, sales adviser
