Miller Homes Passes The Half Way Mark For Habitat For Humanity

Leading housebuilder, Miller Homes, is well over the half way mark in achieving its fundraising target of £100,000 for international development charity Habitat for Humanity.

The Miller Homes team has already taken part in a range of fundraising activities since the start of 2016, including the London and Edinburgh marathons, a bike-a-thon with employees cycling the length of the UK, bake sales, race nights and Tough Mudder which have all contributed to over £67,000 being raised so far.

During the second half of the year the Miller Homes team has more fundraising activities planned including charity balls across the country, fitness challenges, golf days and quiz nights which will all go towards achieving the final target.

The company’s North East region is building a ‘Habitat charity house’, a home will be built to Miller Homes high standard by their award winning site team with the costs which would have been paid in labour being added to the company’s fundraising pot.

Additionally 16 members of the Miller Homes team are going to Malawi with Habitat for Humanity to take part in their Global Village Trip in September where they will help to build homes for local families living in poverty housing. They each have to raise a minimum of £1,000.

Chris Endsor, Chief Executive of Miller Homes, said: “I am delighted to see how our team has pulled together to raise well over half of the amount we pledged for Habitat for Humanity as we reach the half way mark in our year-long fundraising campaign. Everyone has really pulled together for this fantastic charity and I believe our efforts and contributions will make a massive difference to those living in poverty housing.”

Habitat for Humanity creates safe and secure homes for those living in poverty in over 70 countries worldwide. Their work helps to lift people out of poverty and restores their independence.  The funds raised by Miller Homes with help to build over 30 ‘Habitat Homes’.
