Miller Homes Employee Brings Hope Through Marathon Effort

Dave Graziano

Miller Homes Contracts Manager, David Graziano put his best foot forward and completed the London Marathon in just over 4 hours whilst raising more than £2500 for Habitat for Humanity.

Habitat for Humanity is the housebuilder’s nominated charity for 2016. Over the course of the year Miller Homes has pledged to raise £100K for the charity’s Hope Builders campaign, enough to build over 30 ‘Habitat Homes’ and make a real difference to those living in poverty housing.

As a keen athlete, Dave, 44, from Hyde in Cheshire has participated in a number of long distant runs and managed to complete the gruelling 26.2 mile challenge in an impressive 4 hours 5 minutes.

Dave commented: “Running the London Marathon has been a lifetime ambition of mine, to do it for such a great cause is a real honour. Although it was a tough challenge, it was also an incredible experience and one that I will never forget. The encouragement by means of support and donations helped motivate me through some tough training and helped me cross the finishing line on Sunday.”

Chris Endsor, Chief Executive of Miller Homes, said: “We are very proud of Dave for completing the London Marathon on behalf of Habitat for Humanity. Dave completed the 26.2 mile run in a fantastic time and has raised a tremendous amount for the charity.

It is a fantastic charity that makes a massive difference to people’s lives. Having a safe, decent place to live is something many of us take for granted and we are in the privileged position of having the resources, skills and expertise to build high quality homes for many families to live and prosper in the UK.

“We hope the money raised through the event and others throughout the year, will be enough to build over 30 ‘Habitat Homes’ and make a real difference to those living in poverty housing.”

Habitat for Humanity creates safe and secure homes for those living in poverty in over 70 countries worldwide. Their work helps to lift people out of poverty and restores their independence.

Manuela Campbell, Head of Volunteering and Supporter Services at Habitat for Humanity GB, said: "By partnering with Habitat for Humanity, Miller Homes is showing a real commitment to ending poverty housing across the world.  We are immensely grateful for their support and delighted to be working in partnership with them.”
