Happy Campers
Devoted hubby Mark Ormiston queued outside the sales office at Miller Homes' Keeper's Gate development in Uddingston to make sure his family got their dream house.
He camped outside the sales office from 5am to make sure his wife got the home she wanted.
But the wait was worth it for BT engineer Mark Ormiston, 42, with his family happily settled in their stunning four-bedroom Humber villa at Miller Homes’ Keepers Gate development in Uddingston, Lanarkshire.
Mark, wife Lorna, daughter Emily, 13, and son Harry, eight, are enjoying the extra space since moving from their three-bedroom semi in nearby Garrowhill to their spacious new property that boasts two en-suite shower rooms and a family bathroom.
The extra showering facilities were top of the Ormistons’ wishlist when it came to
their new home.
Mark said: “We needed another bathroom because our daughter’s getting to the stage where she’s spending a lot more time in the bathroom so that was becoming the real issue!
“We’d known about the development for quite a wee while but there was one specific house my wife was interested in, the Humber, so we waited about 10 months for that house style to come up.
“There were only going to be two new Humbers in the next phase of the development so, to make sure I kept my wife happy, on the day of release I set up camp outside the sales office from 5am just to make sure we got the house we wanted.”
His early start paid off, and the family moved to their new home in May.
For Lorna, it was the open-plan family/dining and kitchen area running along the rear of the property – with its unusual bay window incorporating French doors into the garden – that was the real selling point.
Mark said: “While before we had a separate dining room, we have a much better layout now for big family get-togethers with everyone in the same room.”
Upstairs, there is a dressing area/study leading from the master bedroom towards a walk-in wardrobe and en-suite, with a second en-suite off bedroom two. The family bathroom sits between bedrooms three and four.
With a double garage, utility space and WC on the ground floor, the home has everything
a modern family could want.
Reserving their home early meant the Ormistons had a say in the fixtures and finishings.
Mark added: “We were able to take part in almost every stage of building which meant being able to choose optional extras such as flooring, kitchen upgrades, lights and appliances.
“We’re delighted with the completed house and the standard it’s been finished to.”
Once the setting for Glasgow Zoo, Keepers Gate is buffered by open green space yet offers easy access to Glasgow city centre and the rest of the central belt.
A range of four and five-bedroom homes are available for sale with prices from £244,995 for the four-bedroom detached Douglas house type with single garage.
