Charity Begins Not Just at Home, But at House Building!

Leading housebuilder Miller Homes has pledged its support to Henshaws Society for Blind People, a charity for the visually impaired in Harrogate, making a donation of £1000 to help with the ongoing running and maintenance costs.

The charity, which operates a Further Education College from its Harrogate site and an Arts and Craft Centre from a site in Knaresborough, is one of the oldest charities in the UK and provides education and support to those with visual impairments or learning difficulties.

"Receiving this donation from Miller Homes will help towards an essential everyday costs of which there are many when dealing with a charity of this size and diversity," said Lisa Sherratt Fundraising Co-ordinator Henshaws Society for Blind People. "As you can imagine the need for additional resources is ongoing and we really do appreciate this donation from Miller Homes’’.

Miller Homes will open the doors to its first Harrogate development in spring 2014. Quercus Green is a development of just 74, three, four and five bedroom homes and lies just two miles from the centre of the picturesque spa town of Harrogate.

Henshaws Society for Blind People has five centres and communities across the North of England.
