Success For Stewart At Homes For Scotland Awards
Miller Homes Operations Director for the West of Scotland, Stewart Lynes, is celebrating after being named Young Achiever of the Year at the 2012 Homes for Scotland Awards.
The annual awards celebrate the key achievements of the home building industry across a range of initiatives, including promoting sustainability, the environmental agenda, approaches to housing delivery and customer experience as well as recognising young talent.
Stewart, 33, who has 15 years’ experience within the construction and house building industries, received the Young Achiever of the Year award after demonstrating a steady and consistent career progression at senior management level.
Stewart began his career with a construction company straight from school before moving into the private housing sector, during which time he successfully achieved a BSc in Quantity Surveying through part-time study. In June 2008 Stewart joined Miller Homes as Commercial Director and in 2011 was promoted to Operations Director for Scotland West, a new role created by Miller Homes to provide young managers with experience running a regional housing business.
Stewart said: “I am absolutely delighted to receive this award and to be recognised in this way by highly respected peers within the industry. Although house building has had its challenges over the last few years, there are lots of positive measures being made to help get the industry moving again, measures which we hope to take advantage of going forward.”
The Homes for Scotland judges held the view that ‘Stewart’s impressive career progression makes it highly probable he will go on to make a significant contribution to the homebuilding industry in Scotland’.
David Knight, Managing Director for Miller Homes Scotland, said: “Stewart has done tremendously well since joining Miller Homes and has continued to work hard to further progress his career. As well as having extensive experience within the industry, Stewart is a great people person and a highly driven and motivated individual – he is thoroughly deserving of this award and we look forward to his ongoing and valuable contribution to our business.”
Miller Homes also received a commendation for Best Marketing Campaign at the awards.
