Miller Homes has marked its 75th anniversary with a triumphant evening at this year’s Scottish Home Awards.
The leading housebuilder achieved no less than three awards, including winning the ultimate accolade of the evening, the Gillespie Macandrew Housebuilder of the Year award, at a glittering ceremony held 17 June 2010 at the Sheraton Hotel, Edinburgh.
The event saw more than 500 guests from across the housing industry, as well as special guest appearances from BBC Scotland’s Catriona Shearer, Margo Macdonald MSP and comedian Kevin Bridges, who watched as the Miller Homes’ team repeatedly took to the stage to pick up the much coveted ‘Housebuilder of the Year’ award, the ‘Apartment of the Year’ award for the company’s Ferry Village development in Renfrew and a brand new award – the ‘Sales and Marketing Team of the Year’.
Anne Marie Britton, sales director for Miller Homes in Scotland and David Knight, managing director for Scotland, accepted the awards on behalf of the company. Anne Marie said: "To be the recipient of no less than three awards, including the top prize, is an outstanding achievement, especially given the stiff competition and also the number of entries.
"Receiving recognition on this scale further underlines the hard work, professionalism and dedication of our staff. Over the last 75 years, Miller Homes has continued to deliver a first class product on every level, and our awards are a fitting tribute to that.”
David Knight, managing director for Scotland added," On behalf of the management team at Miller, I would like to take this opportunity to say a huge thank you to our staff, both past and present, for the significant contribution they have made to the continuing success of the company."
Now in its third year, the Scottish Homes Awards is a national competition that celebrates the best of new housing in Scotland. This year’s event was a sell-out, such was the response from the industry, including housebuilders, architects and housing associations, eager to show that while the market place remains challenging, they are determined to play their part in continuing to move the business forward.
