Despite its rural calm, Burghfield Park is an extremely convenient location. The M4 is around ten minutes’ drive away, and the M25 can be reached in just over half an hour. Stopping 600 yards from the development, bus services run every half hour between Reading and the village of Mortimer, three miles away. From Mortimer, rail services reach Reading and Basingstoke in under fifteen minutes. Trains from Reading arrive at London Paddington in less than half an hour, while services from Basingstoke reach Waterloo in about 40 minutes. Paddington trains can also be boarded at Theale, three miles north of Burghfield Park.
Local amenities include a Tesco Express within five minutes’ walk and a small shopping precinct half a mile away with a Co-op, a hairdresser and food takeaways. Burghfield’s other shops, including convenience stores, a post office, a bakery, a pharmacy, a fruiterer and greengrocer, and a farm shop selling local produce are all within 20 minutes’ walk. The choice of local and high street stores in nearby Reading includes the beautiful riverside Oracle retail and entertainment mall.
Close to Burghfield Common, the development is also within a short walk of the woodlands of Ufton Park and Wokefield Common, while to the north the River Kennet and Theale Lakes provide a picturesque setting for both Hosehill Lake Nature Reserve, and Burghfield’s popular Sailing Club.
While Burghfield offers a good choice of pubs, cafés and restaurants, it has a peaceful village ambience. The short journey to Reading, however, opens up a range of nightlife and live entertainment, from cinema and music venues to the celebrated Hexagon Theatre and the annual Reading Festival.
Mrs Bland’s Infant School, less than quarter of a mile from Burghfield Park, offers nursery provision and caters for children aged two to seven. It works in harmony with Garland Junior School and The Willink School, a few yards from Burghfield Park, to provide integrated schooling through to sixth form. The Willink School was one of the first in England to be awarded Language College status, and was assessed by Ofsted as good with outstanding pupil behaviour and safety.
The Willink School shares a site with both Burghfield Common Library and Willink Leisure Centre, where there is a 25m swimming pool, a well-equipped gym, a sports hall and outdoor courts. Around 20 minutes’ walk away, Burghfield Health Centre, staffed by four GPs, is conveniently located near the village’s pharmacy and a dental surgery.

“Miller Homes don't just throw up houses, they care about the quality of the finish and Burghfield Park has a lovely feel to it.”
“I loved being involved right from the beginning and felt everything was very much under my control, from the plot to the optional extras.”
Buying a home from Miller Homes was straightforward from start to finish, I loved being able to see it through the different stages. I picked my plot, my finishes and was able to buy optional extras. I could come in, in a hard hat during the early stages all the way to completion. I'd been disappointed and shocked in a new build I'd bought off-plan before as it didn't turn out to be what I'd seen in the show home. At Burghfield Park I could physically see the plot before I reserved and that made a massive difference.
“The quality of finish from Miller Homes is much higher than other builders and I liked the style of home they offered.”
I liked Miller Homes because they are a smaller builder so the quality of finish is a lot higher. Other builders throw up so many houses so quickly their quality of finish suffers. I was looking to move up to buying a 3 bedroom house. With the house type I've got from Miller Homes it's spread over 3 floors with a really big master bedroom at the top so there's a lot of extra space.
“Burghfield Park is rural and on the outskirts of the countryside but I can get to Reading in 20 minutes, it offers the best of both worlds.”
The location of Burghfield Park Is perfect, it's nice, rural and quiet. The houses are nicely spaced out on the development and the whole site has a lovely feel to it. It's great being near nice walks and pubs and it's only 10 minutes from work for me.
I’d definitely recommend Miller Homes...
...because it was straightforward, everyone was friendly and it's been easy to resolve any issues. The staff at Miller Homes were very open and easy to get hold of. There was an on-line portal which showed all the stages of the house build and where it was in the process so I knew what was coming and where we were within the project. Any meetings were documented in that portal too, so I could always refer back to it.
