Located just 20 minutes walk from East Calder, the Main Street shops include a convenience store and Post Office, a pharmacy and large Co-op and Tesco Express stores, alongside pubs, cafés, food takeaways, and other services. Livingston’s exceptional choice of shops and services includes the popular McArthur Glen Designer Outlet, a host of high street names at The Centre, and a choice of supermarkets, garden centres and other stores.
Complementing the delightful town centres of East Calder and nearby Mid Calder with its traditional pubs, the area has an outstanding diversity of open-air attractions. As well as the extensive Calder Woods and riverside walks through Almondell and Calderwood Country Park, there is the world-class sculpture park at Jupiter Artland, the wonderful Five Sisters Zoo with almost 200 species of animals, and many delightful parks and open spaces to explore. For indoor leisure and entertainment, Livingston’s amenities include theatre and music at the superb Howden Park Centre, film at the Vue multi-screen cinema, and swimming and fitness at Xcite Livingston, where there are pools, flumes and a Technogym.
East Calder Primary School and St Paul’s RC Primary School are both within walking distance of Calderwood, and both have nursery classes. After and pre-school care is available at Simply Play, who can take children to both primary schools, and collect them afterwards. The development is in the catchment area for West Calder High School, which has recently moved into a new state-of-the-art building, and for St Margaret’s RC Academy. With some estates you see you drive into the front and all the houses look identical; there is no individualism. Coming from a terraced house everything looked the same, so we wanted something different. We're living in a cul-de-sac, in a U-shape, and all the houses are different styles with varying frontage. Our home has brick, next door has rendering and another house down the way has wooden boards.

"This is our second Miller Home and we had no concerns because we knew the quality of the build was of a high standard."
The sales office gave us some guidance on the steps as it had been a while since we bought a house. They put us in touch with the right people and it went really smoothly. We kept them informed every step and they kept us informed.
"Their aftercare is second to none."
We've only been in eight weeks, but every few days the Site Manager is at the door asking if everything is OK. They are always continually checking we're happy and if I have any concerns I just need to ask, and they are there with any little snagging items. They are so easy to work with because they want to solve any problems. They don't want to run away from it.
"You can commute to Edinburgh, but it's also quite rural, so you have the best of both worlds."
Access to Edinburgh is easy by train and bus and there is open countryside around us, as well as Almondell Country Park. It's great for walking the dogs, cycling or for young children. There's also a climbing centre, horse riding and Dalmahoy Country Club five minutes down the road where my husband has a golf membership.
I’d definitely recommend Miller Homes...
