The Chelsea Flower show has inspired us here at Miller Homes, we've been thinking about how you can incorporate your own stunning floral displays at home. Bringing the outside in with flowers and greenery brings a fresh summer feel to your rooms; and there's no better way to make your gardens even more inviting as the months get warmer than planting your own little Eden.
Read on for our top tips on creating stunning floral displays, inside and out!
Talk a walk on the wild side
Wild flowers have been growing in popularity over the years, and in Britain we're incredibly lucky to have such a huge range of native flowers growing in our country. Try pairing the soft hues and sweet scent of Honeysuckle with the vivid purple of native Cornflowers and Forget-Me-Nots. Don't forget to incorporate plenty of greenery to make the colour pop even more and bring a more natural feel to your display.
Match your vase
Just as important as the flowers, is how you choose to display them! Pick a vase which matches the style of your display. Elegant Lily displays, with their long stems, pair well with a large clear glass or crystal vase. A shorter round white ceramic vase is ideal for a regal rose display, to ensure each and every flower can shine and isn't hidden by others. For wildflower displays, try going to a more country rustic look - a milk bottle or water jug with the finishing touch of a bow made from brown string and ribbon is perfect.
Hardy outdoor planting
When looking to plant or hag flowers outdoors, it's well worth keeping the unpredictability of the British weather in mind. Perennials like pansies are the perfect flower to start your journey into outdoor planting - not only will they bloom for years, but they're incredibly handy for such brightly colourful and delicate-looking flowers.
Bring in the Bees
When looking to plant more outdoor flowers in your garden, why not consider lavender? This pastel purple plant can be grown directly into the ground or in pots - all it needs is a sunny spot! Another hardy outdoor flower, not only will lavender add a pop on insta-worthy colour to your garden, but they'll also fill your outdoor space with a deliciously fragrant scent and encourage bees.
The decline in numbers of Bees in the UK puts the future of our flowers, fauna and crops of our country at risk. There's never been a more important time to attract bees into our gardens by planting flowers to encourage pollination. Is there a more soothing noise than the gentle buzz of bees on a warm summers day?
