Give Your Bedroom A Spring Refresh

Give Your Bedroom A Spring Refresh

With days growing longer and the hope of warmer weather and sunshine, now is the perfect time to give your home a spring makeover.  Making just a few changes can give your home a new lease of life and instantly refresh your living spaces.

According to specialist bed retailer, Dreams, by the age of 80 we will have spent 26 years of our lives asleep and the majority of that will have been in our beds. So when it comes to reviving your home, there’s no better place to start than with your bedroom.

Whether you’re looking to add a pop of colour or create a fresher environment, we’ve taken some inspiration from the top interior magazines and designers to help add some spring touches to your sanctuary.

Break out the colour

The best way to brighten up your home and create a spring atmosphere is by adding little pops of colour throughout the room. According to 25 Beautiful Homes, “Bright and uplifting or elegant and earthy, green is the colour everyone is talking about when it comes to giving homes an instant refresh.” Bring this season’s top colour into your bedroom with floral bedsheets, velour cushions or glass vases for your plants.

Tuck away cold weather accessories

Say goodbye to your thick blankets that were necessary to fight the winter. Keep them out of sight by storing them away in large wicker baskets or a distressed wooden chest at the foot of the bed to add an elegant touch to the bedroom.

Bring the outdoors inside

Flowers make any room feel fresh and inviting and nothing says spring quite like bright daffodils or tulips. Add them to your bedside table to give your bedroom an instant facelift.

If flowers aren’t your thing, then house plants are another great way to bring spring indoors. Spider plants, philodendron or mother-in-law’s tongue don’t only look great but they purify the air – meaning a better night’s sleep. Or if you’re looking for a plant that requires less maintenance pop a cactus in your bathroom, it will flourish in the humid climate.

Change out your artwork

Another way to brighten your room is by replacing any dark artwork with bright and colourful pieces. The light colours have a similar effect to a mirror, making the room feel bigger. If your artwork isn’t particularly seasonal, another way to revive them is to simply reframe your pieces with white, glass or golden frames.

Freshen the bedsheets

There is nothing better than getting into clean sheets after a long day. Your bed is the centrepiece of your bedroom, and spring is the best time to bring in new bedsheets and instantly refresh your room. Interior designer Amelia Carter says, “Opt for patterned bed linen inspired by nature. Choose botanical prints to make a statement, and layer textures and combine different fabrics.”

Once you’ve gotten the fundamentals down, you can start adding accessories to your bed, like a new throw. Be sure to pick a thinner quilted or cotton one so you’re not too warm at night.
