Find Inspiration For Your New Home On Pinterest
Bursting with interiors ideas that never fail to make us swoon, it’s no surprise that Instagram has become a go-to tool for home design. But, as much as we love the platform, Pinterest holds a special place in our hearts too, probably because it reminds us of our childhood hobby of compiling scrapbooks with pictures cut out from magazines!
Like scrapbooking, Pinterest is the perfect way to let your imagination run wild – and it’s easy to spend an entire afternoon discovering design trends, planning how you will incorporate those gorgeous wallpaper prints, soft furnishings and one-of-a-kind lighting fixtures into your own home.
Having been fans of Pinterest for some time now, we thought we’d share our tips on how to get the most out of it when adding those personal touches to your new home.
Curate your ideas
As well as being a source of inspiration, Pinterest is also a great way to organise your ideas – which is useful if you have lots of them! Whether you love opulent, contemporary, boho or Scandi-inspired interiors, or you just can’t decide on a colour palette, creating a themed board for different rooms helps you visualise what each will look like. Once your pictures are pinned, you’ll be able to reference them easily when you’re shopping.
Build a digital shopping list
Who hasn’t spent hours browsing different online stores, only to half remember what we looked at and liked? To make sure you don’t miss anything, use the ‘share’ icon next to products you spot and post it onto your Pinterest board to create a handy reference.
A place to share
One reason why interior designers, landscape gardeners and wedding planners use Pinterest so much is because you can share ideas quickly. Rather than describing what’s in your mind to your partner, we usually find it easier to hunt out a picture online and add it to the board. That way, anyone following the board will get a notification when you have updated it.
Follow the experts
Like other social media channels, Pinterest is home to everyone from professional interior designers to those whose passions have helped them create their own perfect home. You’ll find that many big retailers and small-scale suppliers also use the platform, providing even more inspiration for your boards. If you have a favourite brand or designer, simply type their name into the search box and see what they are showcasing.
Time to explore
Don’t forget that Pinterest is an incredibly user-friendly platform – simply click ‘Explore’ in the top right hand corner and then choose ‘Home’ for all the latest designs. Not every board will suit your home, but we can almost guarantee there will be plenty that do!
