Help to Buy for Young Chorley Couple

Young couple Elise and Kieran are the latest people to benefit from the Government’s Help to Buy scheme designed to help house hunters get on the property ladder for the first time. 

The couple, who both work locally in retail, wanted to find a first home in the Chorley area because of its proximity to work and family. 

After exploring a range of homes in the area, Elise and Kieran were attracted by the size, quality and the flexible living space offered by a two bedroom Miller Homes apartment on Buckshaw Village.  Not only did the apartment tick all the right boxes but they felt the location was new, exciting and offered great prospects for the future.

Elise comments:  “All the apartments were different, but we immediately fell in love with our apartment because of its lovely Juliette balcony with views over the pond.  The home has a lovely modern, clean and luxurious feel and it was really reassuring to see the quality of finish and to know of the guarantees you get when you buy a new build apartment.”

Although the apartment was towards the top end of their budget, after speaking with a Miller Homes Sales Adviser they were told of the Government’s new Help to Buy scheme that could help them secure their dream home with only a 5% deposit. 

The Help to Buy scheme allows potential buyers who only have a small deposit of around 5% to apply for an additional 20% equity loan from the government.  This means that buyers only need to secure up to a 75% mortgage from a bank or building society. 

Keiran adds: “The Help to Buy scheme is amazing and really helped us as we would of never have been able to afford such amazing property without it.  We now have to make a simple monthly repayment and at the end of the lending period the home will be ours.”

The couple, who moved into their new home just before Christmas are delighted with their new home and love sharing it with family and friends.  Elise adds; “Everyone that comes round comments on how spacious it is and how fresh and clean it looks.  We love having people to stay and the kitchen living room is proving to be a great place to entertain.”

Elise concludes; “We love Buckshaw Village as everyone is so nice and friendly. It’s a great community and we look forward to living here for many years longer.”
