We are looking to recruit an Environmental Projects Manager to help us deliver a range of exciting improvement projects during 2024. This role is based in our Derby office and will report to the Head of Environmental Sustainability.
About the role:
This is an exciting opportunity to join us in delivering a diverse range of environmental improvement projects across our business.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated environmental practitioner with experience of working in either construction or manufacturing to help us implement a broad set of improvement projects in over the next 12 months. Projects will span a range of topics including waste management and reduction, energy management and renewables, delivery of onsite measures for nature, and sustainable timber sourcing although you do not need to be an expert in all of these fields. You will also be responsible for developing reporting processes and dashboards for these projects
We are looking for someone who can demonstrate a strong general foundation of environmental understanding across multiple issues.
You will be organised and a good project planner, with a passion for driving change. Capable of maintaining and analysing datasets using Excel, you will also have the ability to develop great working relationships with a range of functions around the business to develop ownership and accountability for improvements. You will be comfortable spending time on our development sites with our production teams, liaising with waste contractors and suppliers, and securing buy-in from procurement, commercial and technical teams in house. Tasks will include:
- Supporting our site teams with implementation of a new waste standard and reporting of progress in delivering waste reductions and cost benefits
- Developing and implementing trials of supply chain innovations to reduce waste
- Developing a standard for low carbon compounds on our sites including use of renewable technology, energy efficiency and management techniques, and establishing procurement requirements
- Trialling new technologies to reduce diesel use on site and developing monitoring systems and KPIs in support of this
- Supporting development of guidance for deploying onsite measures for nature
- Developing processes for auditing supplies of timber products and materials and completing audits
- Working with suppliers to develop reports on sustainably sourced timber materials
- Managing and monitoring key KPIs and working with IT to develop reporting dashboards
- Establishing systems for collating and analysing data on our community contributions for Environmental Sustainability and delivery of low carbon homes
Candidates should ideally hold membership of IEMA, or another recognised professional environmental body, and must also be prepared to travel regularly across England and Scotland.
