View full price listOnce a self-contained village, today Newbold is a popular residential area a mile and a half from the centre of Chesterfield. Eyre View sits beside two of the area’s most distinctive features, the ancient Eyre Chapel perched on the highest part of the village, and the Barnett Observatory which is open to the public on Friday evenings. The Nag’s Head, one of two traditional pubs within a few minutes walk, has cellars dating back to the 13th century.
Frequent bus services into Chesterfield town centre and railway station pass alongside Eyre View. Trains from Chesterfield run approximately every half hour to London St Pancras, a journey of around two hours, and there are also services to Plymouth, Liverpool, Glasgow and Edinburgh. An off-road cycle path links the development with the local cycling network and the town centre.
Shops in the area include a convenience store and food takeaways around 200 yards away on Newbold Road, and a Co-op food store, Spar grocery, post office and newsagent at Littlemoor, half a mile away. Other local services include a Tesco Express, hairdressers, a library with IT services and Newbold Surgery, where the GP services sit alongside a pharmacy.
A mile to the east, beside a retail park with Aldi and Tesco Extra supermarkets, the Hub community gym, hydrotherapy pool and sports hall is incorporated into Chesterfield FC’s Stadium. Other facilities in the area include a Simply Gym, and a recycling centre handling virtually all household waste.
Eyre View is perfectly situated for outdoor leisure. It is less than half a mile from Holmebrook Country Park, a large tract of woodland and meadow with a lake and play areas. A path from Holmebrook leads to the reservoirs and woodlands of Linacre Park, while for more adventurous rambling the Peak District National Park is just four and a half miles away.
