Five interior trends for new builds in 2024

With the start of a new year comes new predictions about the trends and styles that will shape interior design in 2024. Here are five of the top home styling picks that people are getting excited about, which could be perfect for your new build home.

Five interior trends for 2024

Mixing textures and materials

2024 is a year to experiment with different textures and materials to find combinations that are uniquely suited to you and your home. Wood, stone, and handwoven materials are predicted to be big this year, with endless options for mixing and matching materials to create truly unique interiors. With a resurgence in the popularity of biophilic design, why not try drawing inspiration from the local crafts and materials around you, bringing elements of the coast or countryside into your home and garden to reflect what you love about the area you live in. Home and Garden have shared eight top tips for introducing some biophilic design into your home this year.

Quiet luxury

Quiet luxury is another prominent interior trend for 2024, bringing together innovation and elegance to create spaces that elevate everyday living. At our Longridge Farm development in the Nort East, we set Q Interiors the challenge of creating a calming and tranquil space in our Skywood show home. The team used recycled materials from a wide range of suppliers including @clarke_clarke_interiors to create and warm and inviting eco-friendly interior. Some fabrics and wall coverings within this scheme were made from recycled bottles which have been transformed into beautiful soft textiles.

Wallpaper in smaller spaces

Long gone are the days where adding wallpaper to a small space was an interior design faux pas. More and more interior designers and influencers are now using wallpaper to add an unexpected visual twist to bathrooms, utility rooms, closets and studies. When it comes to choosing wallpaper, small spaces give you the opportunity to be daring with your design choices in rooms that are more contained and not the focal point of your home – so don’t hold back, be bold when it comes to picking patterns and colours! Inspired lighting

The lighting choices you make can have a huge impact on the appearance and ambience of your home. With so many lighting styles and solutions available, take the time to think about what you want and need to illuminate the different rooms in your house. House Beautiful have compiled a list of nine lighting trends to look out for in 2024, featuring sustainable and nature inspired light fittings, architectural and minimalist approaches, backlit and dimmable effects, and SMART lighting solutions that can change with your home throughout the day.

Curved furniture

Tying in with the emphasis on comfort and wellbeing that is at the forefront of interior trends for 2024, curved furniture is very much back in style. Compliment the quieter spaces in your home with curved chairs and coffee tables that add to the warm and tranquil vibes you are generating with your décor. Popular in the 1970s, curved furniture can also add a touch of retro chic, be it a suave sofa in your living room or a curved dining table that brings you and your guests closer together over a meal, sharp edges our out – smooth is in.
