Transport
The development is exceptionally conveniently situated just yards from the A46, offering fast access to Lincoln, and Nottingham is around 45 miles away. Lincoln train station, six miles from the developent, offers services to Doncaster, Leicester, Nottingham and Grimsby, and Humberside International Airport is approximately 20 miles away.

Entertainment and culture
Dunholme has a popular Community Centre housed in the Old School, where a range of activities from mother and toddler groups to Age Concern lunch clubs, including clubs and classes dedicated to sports, dance and other special interests, are held. A new library is currently being built in Welton to offer improved services and resources, with the villages being served in the meantime by a temporary library. The amenities of Lincoln city centre are in easy reach, and the popular Trinity Arts Centre in Gainsborough presents a lively and varied programme of film and live entertainment including drama, music, dance and comedy ranging from local productions to international touring shows.

Health care
The Welton Family Health Centre, less than a mile from the development, is a full-time centre with six doctors on the staff. In addition to GP services, it offers a range of specialist clinics. There is also a chemist in Welton, and a choice of further doctors’ and dentists’ surgeries in Lincoln.

Shopping
Dunholme village shop and post office supplies a wide selection of groceries, newspapers and magazines, household products, wines and spirits, stationery, cards and gifts to cover most day-to-day needs. There is also a hairdresser in the village. There are more shops in Welton, including a Costcutter Supermarket, a Co-op and a butcher. For a wider range, the centre of Lincoln is a pleasant shopping area: the Cathedral Quarter has a wide choice of specialist shops and fashionable boutiques, while the national chain stores are mainly found in the High Street Quarter. The City also hosts a regular farmers’ market.

Sport and leisure
There are sports facilities at Dunholme village hall, including tennis courts, a football pitch, indoor and outdoor bowling and a children’s play area, and the adjacent neighbouring village of Welton (the two villages are so close as to be virtually intertwined) is home to the Welton Manor Golf Centre, where the fine 18-hole course is complemented by a floodlit driving range and a fishing lake. There is also an equestrian centre and riding school
in Welton, and a leisure centre at Riseholme Road in north Lincoln, with a 25m swimming-pool, separate diving bay and teaching pool, a new fitness suite, gymnasium, sports halls and squash courts, athletics and cycling tracks, and outdoor sports pitches.

Education

There are excellent primary schools in both Dunholme and Welton. Dunholme St Chad’s is just a few minutes’ walk from the development, and Welton St Mary’s is just around a mile away. The local secondary school, the William Farr Comprehensive, is located on a 35-acre site on the northern edge of the village, less than 10 minutes’ walk away. It has an excellent academic track record, and became a Beacon School in 2002 and a Leading Edge Partnership School in 2003.
