Leisure and Recreation

The nearby children’s recreation ground at Fern Lea provides a sports field, play equipment and woodlands, and the family-friendly Huddersfield Sports Centre in the town centre incorporates two swimming pools and comprehensive gym facilities. Huddersfield Golf Club is around three miles away, and the area has several traditional pubs. Around five miles north of the Peak District National Park and close to the Yorkshire Dales, Huddersfield is also an excellent base for outdoor activities from mountain biking and rock climbing to exploring beautiful countryside and villages.

Education and Health

Lindley Infant School and Lindley Junior School were assessed as ‘outstanding’ in their most recent OFSTED reports. The local secondary, Salendine Nook High School, is a successful technology specialist college with Academy status. All three schools are within a few minutes walk of Lindley Park. Nearby GP practices include the Lindley Village Surgery in Thomas Street and the Nook Surgery in Salendine Shopping Centre. Huddersfield Royal Infirmary, around a mile away, has full A&E services, and there is a dental practice just minutes away in East Street.

Transport

Local bus routes run alongside the development in Cowrakes Road and Weatherhill Road, and a free town centre bus provides transit between locations like the rail stations, the university and key shopping sites. Leeds is less than 40 minutes from Huddersfield by train, and there are also frequent services to Manchester and Liverpool. The M62 motorway is just a few minutes drive to the north of Lindley Park.

Arts and Entertainment

Huddersfield’s year round entertainment programme includes a Literature Festival, the Huddersfield Carnival, a Food and Drink festival and the largest international festival of new and experimental music in the UK. In the Town Hall, a spectacular 1,200-seat concert hall hosts events ranging from classical music and stand-up comedy to lectures and talks, and open-air concerts are held in the magnificent surroundings of Greenhead Park.

Shopping

Salendine Nook Shopping Centre, half a mile from Lindley Park, includes a Sainsbury’s and a post office, and there is a wide range of local shops such as convenience stores, pharmacy, off-licence, gift shops and florists in Lidget Street, around ten minutes walk away. The centre of town offers enormous variety, from the fashion collections and department stores of Kingsgate Shopping Centre to traditional outdoor markets and the Victorian splendour of the Byram Arcade.
