Miller Homes Provides Homes For Native Birds

Bird houses

It is not just humans that require a warm and safe place to nurture their families, birds in and around Thorpe Willoughby are often looking for a place to nest and, now thanks to housebuilder Miller Homes, our feathered friends have five new boxes to call home.

To support Thorpe Willoughby Parish Council’s plans to create a woodland walk and enhanced natural and recreational areas in the village, Miller Homes commissioned five wooden bird boxes, complete with viewing window, so that children can ensure the birds utilising the boxes stay safe.

“Our sincere thanks to the Miller Homes team for their kind donation and  support in helping us make these improvements to our village and attract more wildlife to our neighbourhood,” said Sylvia Parkinson Vice Chair Thorpe Willoughby Parish Council. “It was a delight to be able to hand the boxes over to the children who will help us position the boxes in our woodland walk in the coming months.”

The Parish Council has an ongoing improvement programme with enhancements to the play area on the village green planned in the near future and many other ideas for the months ahead.

“We are thrilled to be able to help the people of Thorpe Willoughby carry out these changes to their village and make a difference to their community,” said Natalie Moore sales manager Miller Homes Yorkshire. “Build has commenced at our development Sherwood Croft and we will continue to ensure we enhance their community bringing new homes and open spaces for the new home owners to enjoy.”

Sherwood Croft is a development of two, three, four and five bedroom properties and will bring much needed homes to the community. It is anticipated that the development will open in early summer.
