Finding a new home can be a challenging situation especially in an area where more affordable new homes are hard to come by. But a little determination and an early start ensured one couple got more than they hoped for.
Tom Watson and Natalie who are both teachers in Wetherby made the move back to the town after discovering that leading housebuilder Miller Homes were to build a new development of two, three and four bedroom homes close to the town centre.
“We were so pleased to hear of the development and ensured we were there on the opening morning at 6am to give us the best chance of securing the house style and plot we wanted,” said Tom. “Luckily we were the first in the queue and were able to secure our chosen plot which meant our house buying dreams became all we hoped they would and more!”
Both previously taught in different areas of the county and chose to make Wetherby their home in order to be closer to family. But, were challenged with finding a long term property that they could afford in the area. Miller Homes is one housebuilder that offers the Government Help to Buy initiative which gave Tom and Natalie the chance to purchase their ‘long term home’ a three bedroom ‘Kipling’. Following their success with Help to Buy Tom and Natalie were not only the first to reserve but, the first to move onto Privas Court on Audby Lane.
“Help to Buy is a fantastic way to help people like us get a foot on the property ladder in a great community and with a quality home,” said Tom. “We would definitely recommend Miller Homes and the Help to Buy scheme to others, it gave us that little extra help to be able to afford a home that we can enjoy for many years to come.”
The Government scheme, Help to Buy, offers assistance for buyers, like Tom and Natalie, who only have a small deposit of around 5% through the provision of a 20% equity loan from the Government for those who meet the qualifying criteria. This means that buyers only need to secure up to a 75% mortgage from a bank or building society making the scheme ideal for first time buyers.
Privas Court is a development featuring three and four bedroom homes which are arranged in a traditional cul-de-sac setting and benefit from existing mature woodland and new landscaping. Prices start from £270,000 for a three bedroom detached home.
Just minutes drive from the A1 and minutes’ walk to the centre of town it is in an ideal location. Privas Court is located on Audby Lane, off Sandbeck Way, Wetherby, LS22 7DN. The sales office opening hours are from 10.30am – 5.30pm each day.
