A young, professional couple are seeing the house of their dreams take shape before their very eyes and have recently exchanged contracts on their first home together.
Holly Brazal, 25, a teacher and her partner Michael Hayward also 25 and a design engineer, reserved their three bedroom 'Derwent' home at Miller Homes’ Victoria Gardens development at Altofts, Normanton 'off plan' - before a brick had even been laid!
"Ideally we wanted to live in Altofts and when we heard that Miller Homes were creating a small new development we decided it was a perfect opportunity to see if we could afford to buy a home there," said Michael. "We visited within days of the development opening and thanks to help from Paula ,our sales adviser, we were able to understand exactly what we would be getting despite not being able to see one of our house types in bricks and mortar."
Holly and Michael had been saving hard for a deposit so they could move from their family homes but were delighted to find that they qualified for the Government’s Help to Buy scheme, meaning they could afford a house they’d always dreamed of.
"Help to Buy meant that we could aspire to a slightly larger home and make a sound investment in our future together," said Holly. "It has helped us to find our dream home quicker than we could have hoped and we are now looking forward to it being completed and the excitement of receiving our keys."
Since their initial reservation Holly and Michael have been guided through the process by Paula so that they remained fully informed at all times. Furthermore, they have had the added pleasure of being able to select a kitchen, bathroom, tiles and floor coverings of their choice due to their early reservation.
"Buying 'off plan' really does have its advantages as it gives our buyers complete control over their interior choices," said Paula Fox, sales adviser Miller Homes Yorkshire. " As soon as building starts on a property the fittings have to be chosen, so if that plot has not been sold, we make those choices. And, whilst everything is of a high standard subsequent buyers may lose the chance to personalise their home from the very beginning."
There are currently nine 'Derwent' properties available at Victoria Gardens, priced from £202,500. The detached property with integral single garage has three bedrooms with en suite facilities to the master, a spacious living room and separate kitchen and dining room.
