The above vacancy has arisen for a Design Manager reporting to the Technical Director or Manager.

 

The successful candidate will be responsible for our Architectural Technicians in our North West office, managing the internal architectural team and external consultant, to produce high quality designs/layouts for land purchase bids through to construction. Liaising with Local Planning Authorities and managing a team of consultants to ensure that planning consents are delivered in accordance with the development programme. 

As part of the pre-application planning process the Design Manager will engage with local communities and other stakeholders.  They will attend meetings with Local Authority planners and urban designers and be able to present the proposals in a positive light and negotiate where required.

Working closely with Miller Homes Limited engineering and commercial teams to obtain planning permission and ensure the subsequent delivery of units on site in accordance with the regional business plan/objectives

 

The ideal candidate will possess good presentation skills and creative flair, to be able to prepare effective and meaningful site constraints/opportunities plans with an awareness of the latest Guidance and thinking on layouts, street scene and urban design matters from a business, site specific and regional/area perspective. Will have a good knowledge of relevant legislation, guidance and regulations and have a good understanding of the Building Regulations and the synergy that certain parts of the approved documents have with planning.

 

They will have an HNC/HND or related degree qualification or equivalent and will have worked for a house-builder or architectural practice planning residential schemes.
