Get the showhome look, with Eileen Kesson

Whether you’re a new homeowner looking for interior inspiration, or you simply want to switch up your existing décor, showhomes are the perfect place to get inspiration.

We’ve teamed up with interior designer, Eileen Kesson from ENVISION to get her top tips on achieving a professional showhome look, so you can nail that polished, on-trend aesthetic at home.

Eileen said: “Showhomes give buyers the ability to ‘fast-forward’ and be able to imagine how their new home could look – it’s also a great chance to get a better feel of the space and how it could work for them and their lifestyle. Our aim is to show just how beautiful and flexible Miller Homes are, and how you can elevate your blank canvas and live in style.”

Find out how you can get the showhome look at home with these simple tips that will take your interiors to the next level.

Be bold with colour

Making a statement with colour is a great way to inject some personality into your home and completely transform the look and feel of a space. This vibrant home office in the Marwood at Bertha Park uses on-trend ochre on the walls for a fun but put-together look. When opting for a bold wall colour, let the paint do the talking for you and keep other décor to a minimum for a polished, showhome look. A couple of striking cobalt throw pillows in the Marwood home office add a contrasting pop of blue, but everything else is kept simple, creating a stylish effect. Colourful paint is also an easy and cost-effective way to completely makeover a space quickly, which means you can have a new home design in a weekend!

Dare to use textures and monochrome tones

Textures and tones are a great way to elevate your space. This gorgeous kitchen in the Nairn showhome at Newton Fields makes quite the impact with an abundance of textures, from concrete effect cabinets and warm-toned surfaces to the Porcelanosa tiled timber effect flooring. A combination of black and white fabrics, clever lighting, and striking artwork really brings this room to life, creating a tasteful monochrome theme. French doors to the garden keep this room light and airy, complementing the darker tones in the soft furnishings and by using gold accents, Eileen has brought some warmth into the mix.

Make a statement in the hallway

The hallway is the first space anyone sees when they enter your home, so why not make a statement entrance? The Marwood at Bertha Park features a bold, colourful wallpaper in vibrant tones, which has been paired with neutral flooring to really let the wallpaper shine. Eileen chose this particular wallpaper as it boasts gorgeous colours that inspired the rest of the interiors. In the Marwood, you’ll see pops of colour from the wallpaper in each room, creating a natural flow throughout the home. This is a clever way to get the showhome look and achieve a put-together effect in your home decor as a whole.

Get Gatsby inspired

Art Deco-inspired showhomes are some of our favourites at Miller Homes, creating a timeless and effortless look that weathers all trends. The principal bedroom at the Nairn showhome at Newton Fields is just a gorgeous example of what can be done with soft furnishings and simple features. Statement hanging frosted lights creates the most atmospheric tone for unwinding from the day. An array of shapes in the wallpaper, mirror and bedside tables work in harmony in this chic and neutral space, giving you a bedroom that even Gatsby would have envied.
