These are the most popular gardening songs on Spotify
We’re in the prime time of the growing season, and the blossoming rise in gardening as a hobby in 2020 is a trend that’s not going anywhere. Plus, with lockdown easing, some companies have reported a 400% increase in sales for garden furniture. And who wants nice furniture but a messy garden?
When the weather is enjoyable, nothing makes gardening better than a good playlist. When we’re in the zone, many of us like to listen to music which matches our mood. And when gardening, we often look for chilled, feel-good songs to help us while away the hours. In some cases, it’s even been found that plants can thrive and boost their immune system when listening to music which emits similar vibrations to those in nature.
With that in mind, we decided to analyse the 116,021 songs added to 1,000 gardening playlists on Spotify to find out which songs are the most popular sounds of Spring gardening this year.

Marcus Eyles, Horticultural Director at Dobbies Garden Centres, explains: “Summer is a busy time in the garden, with plenty to do but equally lots to enjoy as nature puts on its best sensory display of the year, filling your garden with colour and fragrance. Add a relaxing, uplifting playlist to soundtrack your gardening time, and altogether it’s a fantastic time to be outside! Just a short amount of time spent in the garden taking in your surroundings can help alleviate stress, helping you to feel happier, calmer and more energised.
“The warmer months provide ample opportunity to plant your own herbs and vegetables, which can be greatly satisfying – as well as good for you. It’s also a great time for some garden wildlife spotting, where you can do your bit to protect the environment. Gardening is not only great for the mind, but it’s also brilliant for our physical health. Gardening is an excellent form of exercise – just 30 minutes each day can help you to stay fit and healthy, and you’ll soon start to feel the effects.”
