How to host the perfect Christmas party

How to host the perfect Christmas party

With the festive season in full swing, we’re showing you how to host an extra special dinner party this Christmas. Here are some of our top tips for a spectacular Christmas dinner party, bringing family and friends together to enjoy the most wonderful time of the year at home.

Deck the halls

Enhance the festive atmosphere with festive décor. Make sure your home is decked to the max with beautiful stair garlands and wreaths, a great way to spruce up your staircase or front door.

Tablescaping can be a fun way to add some magic to the dining room and is guaranteed to delight your visitors. Adding some festive figures to the centrepiece is a fun way to tie together the joy of Christmas at the dining table, just like we’ve done with these mini fir trees and angels at one of our gorgeous showhomes.

You can also get creative with napkins with origami tutorials. Our favourite is a Christmas Tree fold. This simple and very effective folding technique will certainly impress guests.

Dine like the three Kings

Sharing delicious, indulgent food with friends and family at Christmas is a must and putting on a showstopping spread will have you at the top of everyone’s nice list. Canapés are perfect for entertaining, and this year we’re mixing things up with some meat-free options for all the veggies and vegans out there. Olive Magazine’s tasty vegan sausage rolls are guaranteed to impress, and their filo pastry filled with figs and goat’s cheese takes a great twist on light bites and nibbles. Why not try some fish-tastic firecracker coconut prawns, or for those looking for a little extra spice, give  Mexican-style crab bites a go. For the main event why not try something different and very on-trend like a small plate festive feast instead. A great way for guests to select what they like and try something new.

Raise a glass

Pop the fizz and fill your glass as the family comes together for Christmas. Offer those designated drivers a delicious mocktail that will leave them feeling refreshed and wanting more, try out these recipes and be sure to ask your guest if they prefer their refreshment shaken or stirred. Finished off the night with winter warmers such as mulled wine or cider, and all the spices will have you feeling like you’re drinking Christmas from a cup.

Jingle all the way

No festive soirée is complete without some entertainment. Create a playlist with all the classic holiday songs that will have your guests rockin’ around the Christmas Tree. You can even create a collaborative Spotify playlist and invite your guests to add their favourite songs.

After dinner party games are a fun way to relax and make some memories. Split into teams and find the best mime at the party with Charades, or if you’re brave, dust off the Monopoly board and try your best to avoid those family squabbles.
