Pantone Colour of the Year 2020 - Classic Blue
Pantone has announced that ‘Classic Blue’ is the colour of the year 2020 - a blue shade that’s ‘reminiscent of the sky at dusk’. The perfect colour to kick-start a new decade, this rich, dark blue will add a statement in your home - here are some ways to incorporate the colour into your home.
Statement sofa
Statement sofas can really bring a room to life. Classic Blue is a sophisticated, deep tone and can add a pop of colour to your living room in the form of a velvet sofa. We love this modern classic from Made.com. As the focal point in the room, the sofa allows you to create a whole new look with just one key piece. Pair with pastel pinks and greys for a simple, chic effect or opt for warm ochre and yellow tones to really make a statement.
Accent Wall
Accent walls can add depth to a traditional space. With its soothing properties, dark blue can help us to focus and works well in a home office or in a bedroom to give you a relaxing, good night’s sleep. When paired with deep mahogany furniture pieces, a blue accent wall will add a rich look to your space.
Get crafty
Breathe new life into old items by upcycling. A fresh coat of dark blue paint can revive your kitchen cabinets or other built-in storage spaces. You can even do something a bit different and add a painted runner to wooden staircases, using masking tape to section off the areas that you want to paint.
Little touches
For those who prefer a neutral palette at home, accessorise with smaller blue pieces. Vases, cushions and candles are all great ways to incorporate the hue without it being too overbearing. We love this Tassel Drum Pendant from Oliver Bonas – the blue tone perfectly matches the golden tassels.
Wall art
Wall art is a great way to add vibrant colour into any room, with a whole host of independent designers and print companies incorporating Classic Blue into their work. We love this moody ‘Blue Tide’ print with contrasting white and gold details – a great addition to a home office.
