The Benefits of Living in Stretford

The Benefits of Living in Stretford

Stretford is a historic market town in Trafford, Greater Manchester, a stone’s throw away from the city centre. It is located between the River Mersey and Manchester Ship Canal, and is a popular area amongst young professionals seeking apartments in Stretford for commuting, as well as families buying their first homes that are wanting to live near to the centre, without the big price tag.

There are many perks to living in Stretford, not least for its prolific transport links, great shopping facilities, local amenities and amicable sense of community. There’s a whole host of things that we find appealing in Stretford, the first being our latest North West development, Novus.

What’s Stretford Like To Live In?

Stretford could well be dubbed the next big thing in Greater Manchester, as investment in the area has seen a number of new and exciting opportunities arise. Stretford Food Hall opened late last year in the mall and has been immensely popular amongst locals since. It was even argued to be “Manchester’s coolest corner shop”. Alongside this, you’ll also find a plethora of fantastic pubs, shops and restaurants in Stretford. The community spirit there is second to none, and the area boasts benefits of a close-knit town, but one that’s also conveniently nearby to one of the UK’s major cities.

How Far Away Is Stretford To Manchester?

One of the major benefits of Stretford living, of course, is its close proximity to Manchester city centre. This is a major perk for commuters, but also for those who want a taste of city life, without the costs that come with it.

Stretford is 4.1 miles from Manchester (town to city centre), this is...

  • 18 minutes car journey via the A56
  • 26 minutes on public transport
  • 25 minutes to cycle

The closet tram link is Stretford Tram Stop and can be found on the corner of Chester Road and Edge Lane (M32 8HW).

 Green Spaces In Stretford

One of the perks of living in a town on the edge of the centre, such as Stretford, is you get the open green spaces that a city just can’t offer in the same way. In Stretford, you’ll find a plethora of community parks, ideal for dog walking and children.

Our North West development, Novus, is actually a very close walking distance to both Gorse Hill Park and Marje Kelly park.

Shopping In Stretford

Naturally, one of the big benefits of living in Stretford is just how close it is to the world-renowned Trafford Centre. This is located just 2.3 miles away, an 8-minute car journey or as little as 14 minutes on the bus. Stretford is also a popular living choice for Manchester United fans, being just 2.2 miles from the Emirates Old Trafford ground. Not only do you have the perk of being in close proximity to the venue for the football matches, but there is also a number of events that take place at Emirates Old Trafford, meaning that even if you’re more into music – this area is ideal for you too.

Stretford Community

Stretford has long been praised for its fantastic sense of community. Historically, it was built on agriculture – which is something you can still see in some of the local street names. There’s even an annual ‘Christmas advent calendar’ initiative, where Stretford residents decorate their windows for every day of advent.

You can also join local Facebook groups - Stretford Wombles, Friends of Stretford Public Hall, and Friends of Stretford Meadows – if you’re wanting to engage with your neighbours.
