First things first, clean out any clutter
Before starting any home improvements it's a sensible time to do some decluttering. Only keeping items you wear or use, from clothes and shoes to makeup and accessories may seem obvious, but it's easy to fall into the habit of holding on to thing you don't need.
L is for layout
Think about how you want to use the space. Are you fashion-first and want to be able yo see and choose from all of our clothes and accessories easily, or would you love to have a dressing table to sit in front of everyday? Think about what you will get the most out of and choose your furnishings and where to put them from there.
Consider your colour palette
From neutrals to bold brights, create a palette of colours which you love and refer to this when choosing your paint and wallpaper, accessories and furniture. Don't be afraid to show your personality, because after all, it's your sacred space!
Let there be light
A light room is great for applying makeup and selecting outfits. Allow any natural light to come into the room by having lightly coloured blinds, and you can always integrate additional lighting. Lighting makes for great accessories too, from Hollywood-style bulbs around a dressing mirror to standing lamps and feature light fixtures.
Organisation
Style your dressing table with boxes to store makeup products in order. Arranging perfume bottles and jewellery hangers looks great and can be practical too. Why not colour coordinate your wardrobe, and if you have open wardrobes try to keep all the hangers the same for consistency.
Finishing touches
Add a final splash of personality with a gallery of wall art, from your favourite photos to famous quotes and eye-catching illustrations.
