Edinburgh Revealed As One Of The Best Cities To Live In The UK

Scotland’s capital is the third best city to live in according to a new report published by financial consultants PWC and think tank Demos.

The 2016 Good Growth for Cities Index, which considers employment, health and income statistics ranked Edinburgh just behind Oxford and Reading. Housing affordability, commuting times, income equality and environmental factors are also taken into account as part of the report.

With some major city works underway, including the new Waverley and Haymarket developments as well as the £1billion Edinburgh St James project, it’s easy to see why residents have faith in the city’s future as a place to set up home.  Did you know that 75% of the buildings in Edinburgh city centre are listed, and outside London it has the most listed buildings than any other UK city – so it’s clear that us Edinburgh builders know a thing or two about high quality workmanship.

Edinburgh’s worldwide reputation as a cultural hub, its beautiful historic buildings, thriving business centre and renowned retail offering are just a few of the attributes that we think make Edinburgh such a brilliant place to live. So if you would like to make a move to one of the UK’s top cities, then take a look at some of our new homes available.

One of the most prestigious developments in the city is Polofields in Colinton. We’ve left no stone unturned here to create a luxurious living environment with our collection of five bedroom homes.

The Watson property has a high spec kitchen and family living area, utility room, separate drawing room and downstairs cloakroom. Upstairs there are two bedrooms featuring ensuites and three further generous bedrooms all with ample storage. The master bedroom has an indulgent feel with French doors leading to a Juliette balcony and to add to the wow factor there is a luxury dressing area off the master bedroom – perfect for storing all those fabulous purchases from Edinburgh’s finest stores.

There are a number of incentives available on the Watson home on plot 58. Priced at £655,000 the home can be purchased using our Part Exchange scheme and we provide a contribution to LBTT as well as turfing the garden.

Alternatively, with its enviable location next to the River Almond, Miller Homes’ Glen Almond development in Kirkliston, to the west of the city, is already a bustling family community. With a selection of four and five bedroom properties the homes are flexible to suit changing family needs.

The Dewar home is set over three floors. It has a light airy lounge with a feature French window and decorative balcony and a contemporary kitchen dining area ideal for family life, all on the first floor. The ground floor is home to two bedrooms and the top floor hosts the remaining three bedrooms, including the master with an ensuite bathroom.

Priced from £274,995, the Dewar on plot 138 is available using Part Exchange, and comes with flooring or a turfed garden, allowing buyers to swap their existing property for a new Miller home.

Located on the outskirts of Edinburgh, Glen Almond is perfectly located for commuting around the central belt. It’s near to the M9 and M8, Forth road bridge and new Queensferry crossing so getting around couldn’t be easier.

If you are enticed by any of these new Edinburgh communities why not pop in and see our show homes and chat to the sales consultant. Both show homes are open Thursday – Monday 11am – 6pm.
