Let Us Help You Get Your Home Summer Ready
With summer now here (hopefully!), it’s time to give your home that feel-good factor for the lighter nights and warmer days.
All the talk is of better weather and the BBQ season, so how do you stay on trend and ensure your home has the ‘wow’ factor?
We’ve been chatting with Rebecca Pearce, design expert at Killer 5. Rebecca has helped with the interiors at many Miller Homes properties and reveals the latest hot trends and looks to create the look of your dreams.
Every home needs a splash of colour to lift the environment and this season sees coppers and currant reds coming to the forefront. Pale salmon pinks are also proving to be popular, and the combination of the two really catches the eye. The colour white is still a classic too as it creates an airy and clean finish. It’s about finding that perfect mix between the two and scatter cushions work wonderfully well in the bedroom and lounges.
We’re now spending more and more time in the kitchen entertaining and relaxing and Miller Homes is keen to reflect this trend for the summer. Whether you’re chatting over lunch or coffee, making this space comfortable and on trend is key. Straight lines help achieve the minimalistic look, whilst stonework tops add a bit of class. If you have room, why not add a sofa into the mix – the perfect place to wind down after a busy day. We’re also seeing more rich colours come into the fold and brass gold brush fixtures and fittings are a massive trend this season.
Summer is everyone’s favourite season to spend time outside with friends and family and we’re beginning to now see the garden creep indoors! It’s not unusual to see foliage make an appearance in all rooms. This can be on feature wallpaper, upholstery, soft furnishings or just stand-alone plants. This helps creates wonderful green colours and earthy tones, even giving the sense of adventure!
Perhaps inspired by the popularity of period drama Downton Abbey, high-end looking marble effects are booming more than ever. There’s a growing appetite for this style, from bathroom tiles, table tops, or statement wallpaper. These really add a bit of glamour to your home and help showcase an added perception of grandeur – perfect for impressing the likes of the Earl of Grantham!
One thing, which never dates, is flowers. Strategically placing these in and around the home will add some instant summer kerb appeal. Offering natural beauty, they look simply stunning in hanging baskets at the front of your property. By also placing some ‘in season’ flowers, such as daffodils in rooms provide a great focal point and add instant brightness to any environment.
Whether you live in a two-bedroom apartment or a four-bedroom family home, these tips can be used to ensure any home is on trend for the summer season!
