Moving Home With The Tick of a Box

Moving Home With The Tick of a Box

It’s a well-known fact that moving home can be one of the most stressful experiences we will ever go through. We do everything we can to make the home-buying journey as smooth as possible for our customers and include an easy-to-follow checklist within our homeowner’s manual to keep our new purchasers on track for their move.

As moving in day approaches there’s going to be a lot of things to do. So start your planning now by following our steps, reduce stress and you will find yourself being able to tick some of your check list boxes before you know it!

- Let your gas, water and electricity providers know that you are moving. They will have to disconnect the supply and maybe arrange for a meter reading on the day of moving out. Don’t fret through as before you move into your Miller home we’ll make sure that all of these services are connected.

- Let your phone company know and arrange for your new phone line to be installed at your new home. This can easily be arranged through your selected phone company but remember that phone lines can only be connected to your new home after completion. Advise your new phone provider if you require extra phone points and the Sales Adviser on your development will help to arrange the best time for your phone provider to install the connection.

- If you are living in rented accommodation, you’ll have to notify your landlord in writing. This is also a good time to let any doctors, dentists and vets etc. know if you are moving to a new area and plan to leave their practice. Also let your children’s schools know your new address if you are staying within the area.

- If you are moving to a new area, start looking into a new doctors’ surgery etc. as soon as possible and ensure that you get your family registered.

- Newspaper, milk and any other delivery extras that you may have will have to be notified. Ensure that any accounts you have are settled before you move and if you want to continue their service, let them know your new address!

- When it comes to your mail, make a list of all the people you need to tell about your address change (i.e. family, friends, your employer etc.). A good way of letting people know is by sending some change of address cards. For any stray mail that may still come to your old address, you can arrange with the Post Office to have this mail redirected for a period of time for a small fee.

- Probably the most important step before moving day is to make sure your removal arrangements are all set in stone. Make sure the firm know where they’re collecting from and where they are going to. Double check arrival times and let your site representative know in advance so a clear access to your home can be provided.

Once this is complete you should be on the home stretch to moving in day! For even more information, we have a range of blogs that can help you when it comes to moving that include Moving With Kids, Moving With Pets and a blog dedicated to moving home with Smart Phone Applications.
