Big Steps for Bethany

Big Steps for Bethany

If you were ever in doubt that Miller Homes was the housebuilder for you, why not ask a member of our staff who has put their trust into us for their first steps onto the property ladder.

Bethany McDonagh, a sales advisor from our Yorkshire region has bought her first home, a stylish two bedroom apartment, at our Fairfield Manor development in Wakefield.

Like many others Beth was living at home with her parents and wanted to not only get a foot on the property ladder but make a sound investment allowing her to begin paying off her own mortgage rather than someone else's.

"I had been looking for my first home and mistakenly thought that I wouldn't be able to afford a brand new one," said Beth. "The quality of second hand homes weren’t to the standard I wanted, plus I wanted my home to be as energy efficient as possible to keep the costs down after I had purchased.  However, it wasn’t until I started working for Miller Homes at the beginning of last year that I realised there were many different ways in which I could purchase. I completed a Help to Buy application for a customer and suddenly realised that I may be able to afford a brand new Miller Home."

Bethany has purchased one of the last remaining apartments at Fairfield Manor through the Help to Buy scheme. A Government initiative, Help to Buy offers assistance for buyers who only have a small deposit of around 5% through the provision of a 20% equity loan from the Government for those who meet the qualifying criteria. This means that buyers only need to secure up to a 75% mortgage from a bank or building society.

"Help to Buy is a great scheme for people like me and was the difference between staying at home or having a home of my own," said Beth. "The application process is simple and the sales advisers know the scheme well so there is someone to advise and guide customers through the process.”

Unfortunately, all homes at Fairfield Manor have now been sold, but close by is Victoria Gardens - a small development of just 33 new homes. Located in the village of Altofts, Normanton, properties currently available include three bedroom detached homes from £196,500 and four bedroom detached from £254,995.
