Let's Keep The Momentum Going!
With the success of last year’s London Olympic Games still fresh in our minds, and more recently Andy Murray’s long-anticipated Wimbledon triumph; there’s never been a better time for the UK to capitalise on the current hype and celebration around sport and create a real and lasting legacy.
In recent months the government has made numerous high-profile pledges to increase funding for sport at grassroots level, and I really hope that these pledges become a reality. Aside from producing the next cohort of world-class Olympians, we have a significant opportunity here to change our culture and encourage a healthier and more active way of life for future generations.
With all this in mind, we’ve decided this year again to give local sports clubs across the country the opportunity to win £500. Clubs and organisations within our eight regional areas can enter the competition by collecting an application form from their local Miller Homes development. To be in with a chance of winning entrants have to say in no more than 200 words why their sports club deserves to win the money, how it will benefit the club and what it will be spent on.
Our judges will be looking for examples of how the sporting clubs in our communities will make the most out of our donation, for details of how it will directly support the learning and fitness of its members and for examples of what new equipment they will be able to buy.
The closing date for entries is Sunday 1st September 2013, giving applicants plenty of time to prepare a winning application.
In light of the nation’s recently renewed enthusiasm for all things sport, we are looking forward to receiving plenty of entries and anticipate that judging will not be the easiest of tasks!
