Dear Santa...
Our Sales and Marketing team have been very good this year. We’ve helped to sell zero carbon homes in Basingstoke filled our company’s trophy cabinet with some shiny new awards like Private Developer of the Year Best Sustainable Development and Best Partnership - and received some rave reviews from fellow bloggers too.
So there are a few things that I would really like for Christmas please!
1. Increased mortgage availability
I had high hopes for Vince when he took office earlier this year but British bankers are still a problem. Everyone deserves the chance to own their own home but lending criteria is just too strict. I don’t want a return to those heady subprime days but I would like to see more sensible debt free people with good incomes being able to get a bigger and better choice of mortgage products. Is that really too much to ask?
2. Fair Reporting
I try to stay cheerful but the papers are just so gloomy. Almost every week there seems to be another story about property price dips - but the truth is so different. In actual fact house prices are 1.2% higher now than they were a year ago and house prices in October rose at three times the rate expected. Ok life isn’t a bed of roses but it’s not a bed of thorns either.
3. A Planning Policy
No one liked the previous planning policy least of all me but at least we had one. We’ve been in limbo for too long now and it’s about time that the coalition Government gave us some steer on where we go from here. The country is already facing a major shortfall in the new homes supply and as things stand this is only going to get worse.
4. Low Interest Rates
Low interest rates might not be good for everyone but they are a lifeline for people starting out on their own right now. Not only that we’re experiencing an export led recovery which is just what the country needs. So Santa if you could drop a note to Mervyn King I (for one) would be very grateful.
5. Some Jimmy Choos
Well a girl’s got to ask.
