5 DIY jobs it’s time to tackle in your home

Getting jobs done around the house is almost always put at the bottom of the to-do list. However, as the majority of us have more time on our hands at home, it's the perfect opportunity to do those DIY tasks that you keep putting off.

Don’t know where to start? Here are a few ideas to inspire you.

Remember to ensure all tasks are carried out safely!

Clean gutters

Gutters are an integral part of your home's wellbeing. A gutter clogged with leaves, sticks and other debris can cause a leaky roof or even water damage to the interior or exterior of your home, therefore regular cleaning is a must!

Not too sure how? Don’t worry – our friends over at B&Q have put together this handy video tutorial to help you out!

Paint radiators

Looking to give your rooms a subtle refresh? Why not give your radiators a lick of paint? Either make a statement and opt for a bold colour or simply give them a lift with white paint to bring them back to life.

Be sure to use paint designed for use on radiators…otherwise you’ll be giving yourself a lot more work to do!

Frame and hang artwork

Wall art can completely change the look and feel of a space.  Are you guilty of buying prints or canvases but never hanging them? Well now’s the time!

Different poster or print combinations paired together with complementing colours, interior schemes and materials can be really effective in switching up the feel of your room, so don’t be afraid to play around with styles and textures.

Wash windows

Be honest, how long ago did you last wash both the interior and exterior of your windows? It’s a laborious job, but one that gives so much satisfaction once it’s complete.

Start by taking down curtains and blinds - this is also a great opportunity to give drapes a thorough wash too. Then, use a duster or hoover attachment to sweep away any dust or cobwebs from around the corners of the windows and the windowsills.

Now, time to start the cleaning! Be sure to use a solution that won’t cause streaking, and switch out your wet and dry cloths regularly to avoid transferring dirt from window to window.

Still need a hand? Here’s some more top tips to help you out.

Hang shelves

No matter what size your home is, we can guarantee you’re still searching for storage space! And what better way to store things neatly, and out of the way, than utilising wall mounted shelves. Not only are they fab for providing valuable storage space, they’re also great for adding some visual aesthetic to your home.

So, what better time to get up and hang those shelves that have been stored in your garage for so long! For an extra helping hand, take a look at these tips and tricks before you get started.
