Our background
Miller Homes, part of the Miller Group, is the nation’s largest privately-owned housebuilder. Since 1934 we have completed over 60,000 homes, and established ourselves as one of the top three housebuilders in Scotland and the North East of England, and top ten in the UK as a whole.
The last five years have seen incredible progress for Miller Homes with 2004 marking the eleventh year of profit growth. Our latest financial results revealed a staggering £52.5m of profit, almost double that of 2002. Turnover also grew by 19% to £285m.
Our recent growth is largely the result of a major transformation programme. In 2000 we re-invented ourselves with a new image, a portfolio of new house-types, new locations in which to build and a new customer care programme. The quality and value of our product range has since shown dramatic improvement with our average selling price increasing from £74,000 in 1999 to £175,000 in 2004.
Our customer focus
Through our established customer care programme we pledge to communicate effectively and always deliver what we promise, without fail. Month on month, we have seen a massive improvement in overall satisfaction and in our most recent survey, conducted in 2004, 85% of our customers state they would happily recommend Miller Homes to their best friend.
In early 2005, we became the first British housebuilder to publish our customer satisfaction scores. Based on independent research these figures reflect our build quality and our approach to the moving process. We are committed to releasing updated figures at least twice a year, further demonstrating the importance we place on the quality of our customer care.
We understand the experience of the customer journey and acknowledge that buying a house can be an anxious time – as a result, we have introduced several initiatives to help our customers through the whole process.
In 2004 we launched www.mymillerhome.com. An industry first, this allows our customers to monitor the build process of their new home online and answers the questions that buyers often ask. Throughout the whole moving process our policy is to keep in touch with buyers, sending regular updates and reminders by post, telephone and email. At the more stressful times, we do what we can to put a smile on our buyers faces and we schedule regular meetings from reservation day to move in, allowing all of our customers to benefit from our 70 years experience of house moving.

In addition, in 2005 six Miller Homes’ Site Managers won NHBC Quality Awards for construction standards. These awards act as further incentive for striving to achieve the best in everything we do. Miller Homes will continue to develop new product designs in response to Government planning legislation and to the changes in consumer lifestyle which will never stop presenting our industry with fresh and exciting challenges.
