Bill Hughes of Miller Homes has swept to success for the third year running in the National House Building Council’s (NHBC) ‘Pride in the Job’ contest 2005 - beating thousands of site managers across the UK to take once again take the “Supreme” title in the large builder category.

With a one in 18,000 chance of winning, very few site managers take the “supreme” accolade in their working life. Only seven people in the scheme’s 25 year history have won the award more than once.

Bill currently manages one of Miller Homes' largest developments – Regent's Square in the North West. He is overseeing the construction of all 100 homes with a team of between 70 to 90 people on site.

Bill said; “I had always dreamt of winning this award and was amazed to take the title back in 2003. I was speechless when I won again last year and I certainly never even considered a hat trick.

“This year, the competition was fiercer than ever and I was up against some truly outstanding site managers. I could not have won again without the support of a terrific on-site team and a company so dedicated to build quality and customer service. The award says as much about the people I work with and for as it does about me.”

Bill beat thousands of NHBC registered site managers and survived four rounds of intense judging over 12 months to win the Supreme Award. As part of the process, his work was also checked by NHBC Building Inspectors, Regional Directors and independent experts all looking to find the site managers who build homes to the very highest standards.

Miller Homes’ Chief Executive, Tim Hough, added; “Bill may have been surprised to win the award again but we were not quite so shocked. He really does set the standard when it comes to onsite activity.

“Bill is respected by everyone he works with and creates a unique working atmosphere thanks to his attention to detail, attitude to health and safety, approach to team work and determination to meet build deadlines.

“We receive nothing but praise from customers and colleagues – everyone he comes into contact with. He is a very worthy winner.”

17 Miller Homes employees received “Quality Awards” in the first round of the competition this year with two site managers, Lyndon Bennett and Bill Hughes, both voted regional winners and qualifying for the national finals.

Tim added; “According to our latest customer satisfaction scores nearly 90% of our buyers would recommend Miller Homes to a friend. It is down to people like Lyndon and Bill that we have achieved this. We are incredibly proud of their achievements.”
