Portencross Castle 14th century sits at the harbour and in ruins Crosbie Castle, home of William Wallace's Uncle Ranald Craufurd in 13th century.
The town has an Institute and Public Hall with local history museum, community centre, library, churches, hotels, holiday accommodation and various shops including several craft shops and art studios, based around a local initiative West Kilbride is well-known as the 'Craft Town of Scotland.' There are numerous walks including a wooded walkway through Kirktonhall Glen, sporting facilities, a golf course and Quad biking at Blackshaw Farm.
