Miller Place Miller Place is a new addition to Priory Vale, a superb contemporary village with a charming rural ambience, set on the northern fringe of Swindon. Open green spaces and a vibrant diversity of house types and streetscenes reflect the thoughtful ethos of the village, with its footpaths, local services and human scale.
Outdoor amenities Taking advantage of the beauty of its location, Priory Vale has been planned and built to preserve natural landscapes and habitats. The area abounds in wildlife such as bats, badgers, newts and a wide variety of birds, making it an ideal setting for walking and cycling. There are also two water parks within easy reach, the Coate Water Centre on the southern edge of the town and the Cotswold Water Park, around five miles from Miller Place, offering 30 square miles of magnificent facilities.
Sport and leisure Priory Vale incorporates a Learning Campus which includes a range of sports amenities, including floodlit pitches, tennis courts, a gym, a dance studio, a drama hall and other facilities, all of which are available for community use. There is also a fitness club and a library in the nearby Orbital Shopping Park, and the short trip into Swindon town centre widens the choice, with ice-skating, swimming and indoor fitness centres in easy reach.
Shopping The principal shopping area for Priory Vale is the Orbital Shopping Park, which includes one of the largest Asda Walmart superstores in the country as well as major branches of Homebase, Boots the Chemist, Comet, Next, JJB Sports and Borders Bookshop. Work has also started on the new Redhouse Village Centre, which will provide Priory Vale with a range of smaller, more traditional retailers. Phase One is scheduled to include a convenience store, a hairdresser and fast food outlets, and future proposals include pubs as well as further shops and services. Central Swindon has a modern pedestrianised shopping area and a wide choice of pubs, restaurants and cafés.
Transport Designed with sustainable transport in mind, Priory Vale is also convenient for commuting by road to Bristol, Gloucester and Reading. The village has a seven-day a week bus service linking it with Swindon town centre, and there are train services from Swindon to Bath, Bristol, Cardiff and London Paddington. The journey to London takes around an hour.
Education An impressive choice of newly built schools at both primary and secondary level, including special schools for children with learning difficulties, are planned for the area. Many of the educational facilities are already in place. |
