Sport and leisure Fearnhill Sports Centre, located at the south-east corner of Norton Common includes a gym, a fitness room, a sports hall and a climbing wall. Entertainment Plinston Live, based in a flexible and recently refurbished venue in the centre of the town, presents an extremely busy and varied programme of live events and entertainment ranging from wrestling to play schemes, including touring bands, talks and theatre. The Broadway Cinema in the town centre is an independent cinema housed in a superb art deco building, revitalised and reopened around ten years ago with a triple-screen facility.
Shopping There is a small shopping area at The Parade, less than half a mile to the west of Miller@Letchworth, that includes a supermarket, a post office and an off-licence. In Letchworth town centre there is an assortment of high street names, local traders and speciality shops interspersed with cafés, bars and restaurants. Many national chains, such as Boots, Zavvi, Etam and New Look are represented in the Garden Square Shopping Centre, and there are further shopping precincts at The Arcade, The Wynd and The Gallery.
Health care The choice of nearby health centres includes the Birchwood Surgery and the Garden City Surgery, both within ten minutes’ walk. There are also convenient dental facilities in Station Road and Nevells Road. |
