The Foundry
Sutton Manor, on the southern edge of St. Helens, has been transformed from a mining village into a most attractive residential area, with industrial workings reborn as beautiful open landscapes and wildlife parks. The superb contemporary homes of The Foundry combine this magnificent setting with exceptional transport links, creating a perfect commuter base as well as an ideal place to live and grow.

Outdoor activities
The site of Sutton Manor colliery, virtually adjacent to the development, is today a delightful woodland with meadows, picnic areas and a hilltop that offers glorious panoramas of the surrounding area. Half a mile to the north, Sutton Mill Dam wildlife nature park features a delightful 400-yard lake with a waterfall, popular with anglers and a habitat for abundant bird life. And just a little further on, Sherdley Park includes over 200 acres of open green space, woodland, a lake, wildflowers and a formal garden. Sherdley Park is also the location of the annual St. Helens Festival, reputedly the largest free show in Europe.

Shopping
There is an excellent selection of local shops half a mile from The Foundry in the neighbouring village of Clock Face, including a Kwik Save supermarket, a chemist, a greengrocer and a baker. The village also has a convenience store and an off-licence, and there is a post office on Jubits Lane, just 200 yards from the development. St. Helens town centre, around two-and-a-half miles away, includes a wide choice of department and specialist stores, many of them in the Church Square and Hardshaw Shopping Centres which house over 100 retailers including major high street street names such as HMV, River Island, JJB Sports, Marks & Spencer and TJ Hughes. For a change of atmosphere, the indoor St. Mary's Arcade is a lively market with a traditional ambience.

Sport and leisure
Amenities in easy reach include the Clock Face Gym and the Sutton Leisure Centre, which incorporates a swimming pool and a 400m running track. There are also JJB and David Lloyd facilities in St. Helens. Haydock Park racecourse hosts events throughout the year, and St. Helens is a celebrated home of Rugby League. There are several fine local golf courses including Blundells Hill Golf Club and the Sherdley Park course, both within around a mile and a half and, for fans of more exotic sports, a powerboat racing club meets on the northern edge of the town.

Entertainment
Traditional pubs in the area around the development include the Smithy Manor, just a few minutes walk away on Jubits Lane, and the Green Dragon in Gartons Lane. St. Helens offers a cosmopolitan choice of restaurants including haute cuisine at Colours and the new Le Frog bistro, as well as several fast food outlets. There is a lively café and club scene focusing on the Westfield Street Quarter, and the Chicago Rock Café, offering a mix of live music, dancing and dining, is situated beside a multiplex cinema. Other live venues include the Theatre Royal which presents a varied programme of drama, music and comedy including internationally acclaimed touring shows.

Transport
The Foundry is on a number of local bus routes, and the development is only around a mile's drive from the M62. The local train station at Lea Green, three-quarters of a mile from the development, offers direct services to Liverpool and Manchester, and John Lennon Airport is less than eight miles away.

Education
There is a primary school just yards from the development and a choice of four others within a mile. Local secondary schools include Rainhill High School and Sutton High Sports College.

Health care
There are several health centres nearby, including the Four Acres Health Centre just five minutes walk from the development. Local dentists include J E Thorpe and Associates, less than a mile away, and Geoff Allen in Junction Lane.
