Miller Point
Just twenty-five minutes walk from the newly rejuvenated city centre of Coventry, where magnificent cathedrals, world-class museums and theatres join a huge diversity of shops, restaurants, pubs and clubs to create a unique and stimulating ambience, Miller Point is part of the £200 million Dominion Plaza development in the desirable New Stoke Village, an exceptionally convenient location within four miles of the M6 and in easy reach of the M42 and M1 motorways.
Outdoor activities
In addition to the children’s play area that provides a visual and a social focus for Miller Point, Coventry has a wide choice of parks and open spaces. The Sowe Valley Footpath, which can be accessed at the playing fields to the east of the development, is an eight-mile long riverside park with a delightful rural feel, linking a conservation area with a nature reserve and passing through fascinating parks and wildlife habitats. Nearby Whitley Common also has play facilities, and the superb Coombe Country Park is only around four miles away.
Sport and leisure
The Warwickshire Health and Racquets Club in Whitley, a few minutes walk from Miller Point, is one of Coventry’s most comprehensive fitness facilities. It includes air-conditioned and comprehensively-equipped fitness and gym arenas, aerobic studios, a 25m pool, and sauna facilities. Coventry Sports and Leisure Centre includes an Olympic pool, splash pool and gym facilities and local golf courses include Brandon Wood, a challenging par-72 countryside course with a driving range and equipment hire, and Coventry Golf Club, one of the qualifying courses for the Open Championship.
Entertainment
Miller Point is around a mile from the centre of Coventry, where a £4 billion investment programme is nearing completion, and within easy walking distance of attractions like the magnificent medieval Guildhall and the Herbert Art Gallery and Museum, recently acclaimed as Britain’s most family-friendly museum. Drama and live entertainment of the highest quality is presented at the Belgrade and the Criterion theatres, both close to the city centre, and at Warwick University’s Arts Centre, and the choice of cinemas includes the Odeon, less than a mile and a half from the development. Traditional bars in the area include The Humber, just a short stroll from Miller Point in Humber Road, and the Royal Oak near Whitley Common.
Shopping
The range of local shops includes a post office, a grocery and hardware store, a bakery, a pharmacy and a choice of take-aways around Humber Road, and a newsagent and convenience store in Carter Road. There is a large Asda supermarket around half a mile away in London Road, and Coventry city centre contains a superb assortment of high street names and local specialist shops within a variety of malls, arcades, shopping centres and traditional street settings.
Education
There are several primary schools within a short walk of Miller Point, including Gosford Park Primary and All Saints C of E Primary School. The two nearby secondary schools, Coventry Blue Coat School and Music College and the Whitley Abbey Business and Enterprise College, are both co-educational comprehensives with differing specialities and excellent reputations, and the city has two universities.
Transport
There are regular local bus services serving the area passing along Humber Road. Coventry railway station, around a mile from the development, has frequent services to Birmingham and London Euston, and Miller Point is convenient for the M6, M1, and M42. Coventry Airport is only around three miles away.
Health care
Medical practices within 10 minutes walk of Miller Point include two in St George’s Road to the north of the development and a larger medical centre with five GPs in Binley Road. There are also several nearby dental surgeries.
